Bird Feeder Pole

This website is about bird feeders and bird feeding. Please feel free to browse our site and make any suggestions for additional information you may be looking for.

Bird feeder poles are designed to mount bird feeders in the air, where the birds can more easily see the food and it is away from other animals who might like to eat to too.

The poles are often purchased in lengths of material which are screwed or clamped together to form one longer pole usually 6 to 8 feet in length.

Feeder poles are constructed from a range of materials, some of which include copper, stainless steel, timber, bamboo and toughened plastic.

They can be a simple pole with room for one feeder on the top or they may incorporate hangers so that multiple feeders are able to be placed on the one pole.

At the time of writing, pricing was between $20 for a simple model, up to $140 for a model including built in squirrel baffle.

Because the feeders which sit on top of the pole have some weight and wind resistance, the poles need to be firmly secured to the ground. They can be fixed with concrete, hammered into the ground or for the removable models they can be screwed into position. Some models come equipped with a clamp so they can be attached to another solid object.

In America it is wise to have also fit a squirrel baffle to the pole, to prevent the squirrel’s gaining access to the food.
